After William Wallace’s execution in 1305, his sword is said to have been given to the keeper of Dumbarton Castle. There it remained until 1888, when it was transferred to the Wallace Monument near Stirling, where it can still be seen to this day. Such was the high symbolic value placed on the sword, that over the centuries it has been lovingly preserved, particularly by James V in 1505, who paid to have it re-hilted and decorated with a new scabbard. This kilt pin is an exact miniature replica of the sword as it can be seen today.

Premium quality hand finished pewter kilt pin. The kilt pin is worn on the front of a kilt to prevent it lifting. Cast and finished in Glasgow, Scotland, by highly trained craftsmen.

Size 10.2cm long.
