Nominated for 'The Recording of the Year 2009' by the Pipes & Drums website, Twelve-Thousand Miles captures Manawatu's technical and tonal precision, as well as the band's willingness to chart new musical territory.

Twelve Thousand Miles is the distance between New Zealand and Scotland, and the distance many of our ancestors travelled over 150 years ago on a one way voyage in search of a new life. Ultimately, Twelve Thousand Miles is the distance the Band must now travel to ply its trade against the Worlds best. It is also the spread of membership across the globe, spanning two hemispheres, three continents and six countries.
