Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band won their 7th World Pipe Band Championships on Saturday 13th August 2011 at Glasgow Green. The band won both the March, Strathspey and Reel and Medley events to win by 18 points.

Nine pipers in the band play bagpipes hand crafted by R.G. Hardie and have assisted in the development of Hardie and Peter Henderson Pipe Chanters.

R.G. Hardie are extremely proud to sponsor the band and assist them in their endeavours and will continue working with the band for many years to come and hopefully more world titles.

FMM Pipers with their Peter Henderson Bagpipes

Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band have completed an historic season by winning the Cowal Championships at Dunoon. This completed the Grand Slam for the band led by PM Richard Parkes MBE, winning all 5 major championships. The Grand Slam was previously won by the band in 1993 and this title makes the band the first in history to do it twice.

RG Hardie have sponsored the band for 6 years and during this time the band has won 3 World Pipe Band Championships including the 2011 title. RG Hardie are very proud that their bagpipes are played by pipers in the band.  FMM pipers have provided invaluable feedback on new products over the years.

We would like to join the Hardie team in sending our congratulations to all band members.

At Gannaway New Zealand ~ The Bagpipe Centre,  we're proud to be the New Zealand Agents for Peter Henderson Bagpipes!

Bagpipe Reeds by Colin MacLellan

Gannaway New Zealand is proud to announce that Colin MacLellan Pipe Reeds are now available in New Zealand.

Colin draws on his significant competitive success at the highest levels of solo and band work, years of experience making and setting up reeds for solo and band situations, and the determination to do something markedly different-and better-than what is currently available in the marketplace.  Over the last few years, Colin has put significant research and development into producing the finest bagpipe reeds.

The new MacLellan reeds are manufactured using the most exacting standards employed anywhere. Before selection, each piece of premium French cane is hand selected and tested - any cane which does not meet minimum standards of colour and hardness is immediately rejected. Staples are made from folded copper [not the cheaper and brassier seamless], are airtight in construction and flawlessly symmetrical.

Reeds stocked at Gannaway New Zealand are of medium strength, but we also supply a senior's or beginner's strength, guaranteed to be easily blown by any piper! The finishing process used in making MacLellan reeds is far in excess of what is common in the reedmaking industry.  Each reed comes individually stored in its own airtight, labelled container after having been tested three times in each of Naill, MacCallum, and Kron pipe chanters.  Requests for testing in other makes of chanters are readily accepted.

In general, MacLellan reeds cost a little more than generic reeds which you can buy from dealers and piping shops. For a very small premium, however, the customer will get an individually hand-finished product.  This will guarantee over the longer term to save money and time.

Colin MacLellan Reeds - guaranteed to play vibrantly in tune and at the strength you require!

Bruce Gandy & Gannaway New Zealand

I started playing my Gannaway bag a couple of years ago now and I've had nothing but success with it.

I had struggled with moisture problems with a sheepskin bag and did not like the tonal limitations I felt existed with most of the synthetic bags.  The Gannaway seemed to fill the bill for me.  With it's leather "feel" and what I feel is a better top hand due to the leather, plus the zipper, which allows a person to easily get a moisture system in there for the drones, this bag has performed wonderfully for me the past couple of years and, as a result, I have been more confident playing in piob events.

The team at Gannaway continue to strive to make improvements to the bag and their service to clients has been exceptional.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Gannaway bag to anyone.
